If you’ve got a bit of spare time, or need to do a long drive, and are looking for some outdoors content to listen to, here are a few ideas.

Those tele guys

‘Those Tele Guys is a podcast made by a couple of telemark skiers from Downunder. The show will talk tele, investigate topical issues, share their love of Australian winters, and have a good laugh’.

You can find the 2023 season here.

Trail break radio

‘Trail Break Radio is the new podcast channel from Winter Wildlands Alliance, bringing you stories and conversations from across America’s wild snowscapes and beyond the well-trodden path’.

There are three episodes so far. You can find them here.

Dirtbag Diaries

A perennial of the outdoors genre. Covering life and adventure. USA based.

Available here.

Rescued: an outdoors podcast for hikers and adventurers.

Rescued is a podcast of conversations with rescuers and those who’ve been rescued. It’s about the lessons we learn about ourselves, the places we go and why – without judgement or shame – to help us have better adventures, manage risk and deal with the unexpected. Produced by Caro Ryan.

You can find it here. (Thanks to Julie Mundy for this one).

Desert Oracle

If you like Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey you will probably like the Oracle. It’s quirky, often rambling, and a bit obscure, covering everything from UFOs to regional literature, but always firmly located in place – in particular, the Mohave desert of southern California.

Have a try of this one – the spiritual intoxication of the wilderness ramble.

The Mountain Cosmos

Another Australian based podcast. Has a great series on women of the backcountry.

You can listen here.
