There has been a long and spirited community campaign to stop the removal of significant trees on the edge of Bright in Victoria’s north east.
.
Now, Bright’s Gateway Protection Group have announced that they will be marching in the Autumn Parade this year (May 4), and are inviting members of the community to join them.

“The Bright Autumn Festival is a celebration of autumn and harvest in Victoria’s Alpine High Country. The festival was first held in 1962 making it one of the oldest continuous festivals in the country. The Bright Autumn Festival is an initiative of the Bright and District Chamber of Commerce and is entirely run by volunteers.”
The Grand Parade takes place on Saturday 4th of May at 1.45 pm and this year’s theme is “Back to the 60’s”. We encourage everyone who would like to march with us to get creative and come in costume. How you interpret this is up to you!

If you are interested in marching with us, please reply to this email with your details – a name and contact number. <sue_ronco@yahoo.com.au>

As many of you know, we truly have something to celebrate this Autumn, with Bright’s Street Trees being accepted as a nomination for the Victorian Heritage Register. This is a huge achievement and one we have been working towards for 12 months. Thanks go out to all those wonderful people who got behind our campaign!
