“Conquer the 50km gravel ride from Bright Brewery to Clear Spot and back with zero emissions this September! Your entry will help build more mountain bike trails around Bright”.
Discounted early bird tickets are now available for 5Zero – the new social cycling challenge to conquer in beautiful Bright, North East Victoria, with the inaugural event to be held on Saturday 8th September 2018.
5Zero stemmed from a desire to bring together a great charitable cause with the amazing views and experience provided by riding the trails around Bright.
Organisers and supporters of the event have long valued Bright for its natural beauty and pristine environment and wanted to help promote sustainable event practices and a zero-carbon footprint, whilst also creating a non-competitive social cycling event that is fun for all participants and abilities.
5Zero will combine many of the core elements that make for a great experience when visiting Bright – epic cycling, craft beer, gourmet local food, live music and family fun.
100% of profits from the event will be donated to ACP (Alpine Community Plantation).
ACP are a community-led not-for-profit body which allows recreational activities to take place within the HVP pine plantations of the Alpine Shire, where the 3 course options (13km, 38km, 53km) of 5Zero will take place. This donation will help ACP build more mountain bike trails around Bright.
Whether you have a mountain bike, CX bike or recreational bike, gather your friends and family and head to Bright this September for a fresh adventure on two wheels with zero environmental impact.
The carbon neutral aspect of the event comes from the fact that the entry fee includes a carbon offset to cover your travel, stay and organisation of the event through the QANTAS Future Planet Scheme.
They are striving to host a lowest possible impact event:
“Zero is our goal for environmental impact as a result of running the event.
- No maps (GPS/STRAVA nav only)
- No course signage or zip ties
- Keep cups for coffee/beer
- Non-packaged kitchen made food at food-stations
- E-Bike course marshals
- Qantas carbon offset program = $10 to projects in NE Victoria
- No gels
- BYO bidons, free tap water!”
