Covid restrictions have forced the organisers of the Victorian Backcountry Festival to cancel the 2021 event. Since we can’t get to meet on-mountain for the festival this year, the organising team has pulled together an ‘on-demand’ pack of films and talks for your viewing pleasure over this weekend (September 4 and 5).

The content available from tonight at https://www.backcountry-festival.com/festival-program/

Content will include:

– Kakapo Crest film, featuring a talk and instagram Q&A by Olivia Page, with Arc’teryx gear giveaway!

– Purple Mountains film – for a small donation to Protect Our Winters (brought to you by POW and Bright Brewery – including a beer and merch giveaway!)

– Lights of Ladakh: cycling in the Indian Himalayas – film trailer by adventurer Kate Leeming who spoke at last year’s festival

– Staying safe at altitude – a talk by Jeannette McGill (including a recap of a Mt Kilimanjaro rescue)

– Backcountry skiing in Iran – a film and talk by Hamid Shafaghi

Stay tuned for more in the full viewing program, including a selection of content from last year’s festival.
