Mountain Journal magazine was produced for the first time in 2021. Intended as an ‘annual’ of key events from the previous year, it has been distributed in mountain huts, info centres, and cafes in and around the mountains of south east Australia (you can find it as a pdf here).

We are just starting to think about content for the 2022 edition (to be distributed in early winter) and would welcome contributions.

Key areas covered in the journal:

First Nations perspectives

Fire – living in the Pyrocene. We are hoping to run some interviews with firefighters who work in mountain and remote areas in 2022

Photo essay – last year was a 4 page spread on Alpine Ash.

News from home – environmental updates from across lutruwita/ Tasmania and the Australian Alps

Around the campfire – some chats with mountain people

Track Notes – covering obscure trips in the mountains – last year was packrafting on the Central Plateau of lutruwita/ Tasmania

Mountain Culture – new mountain related magazines, podcasts, films, events, organisations, etc
