If you’re a Splitboarder and want to be part of an EXTENDED Alpine Safety Training (AST1) course in Victoria – a collaboration between Alpine Access Australia and the Let’s Split crew – read on!
The extended course adds a second day of on-snow practicum. A standard AST1 course, which teaches the Canadian avalanche curriculum, is composed of a day in a classroom setting for the theory and a day in the field to look at terrain, snow conditions and rescue. The aim of this extra on-snow day is to improve information and skill retention – giving the participants more than one opportunity to go through the required drills. And importantly, it gives the ability to re-apply and progress their skills in repeated Group Burial Simulations (which the time constraints of the regular AST1 course does not allow for).
Only 20 are spots available for this exclusive Victorian Course.
The course cost is $450.
Classroom dates = evenings of Aug 3 and 4 at Twelveboardstore in Richmond. On snow dates = Sep 5 and 6 at Mt Hotham as part of the VIC BC FEST.
