The long attempt by a developer to build a cable car up the face of kunanyi/ Mt Wellington, in Hobart continues. The proponent, Mt Wellington Cable Car (MWCC) has submitted it’s Development Application (DA) to Hobart City Council. However local resident’s group Respect the Mountain. No Cable Car say that the DA application is incomplete.
Respect the Mountain says:
MWCC’S INCOMPLETE DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION
SPIN:
The Mercury newspaper today reported: “MWCC chair Chris Oldfield said the Hobart City Council had everything it needed except the bushfire plan” under the headline “MWCC waiting on final detail for application”.
REALITY:
The City of Hobart webpage re the cable car proposal clearly states that information is still required on a number of matters including:
* traffic impacts
* sewage management
* Aboriginal heritage
* biodiversity impacts
* bushfire management plan

“ie AT LEAST FIVE SIGNIFICANT MATTERS are still outstanding not “one piece of information” as reported by the Mercury”.
